M9 minimal medium (M9) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The M9 minimal medium (M9) *in silico* definition consists of all compounds described by `Sigma-Aldrich `__. M9 is a minimal medium commonly used in microbiology and was developed in 1988\ :footcite:p:`becardEarlyEventsVesicular1988`. Since then, M9 has been adapted with different kinds of additives and used to gather insight into carbon or nitrogen sources\ :footcite:p:`hawkeyCuratedCollectionKlebsiella2022`. The medium definition used in this study is based on the provider reference\ :footcite:p:`M9Minimalsalze5XPowder` and was further supplemented with MgSO\ :sub:`4`\ \* 7H\ :sub:`2`\ O, CaCl\ :sub:`2`\ \* 2H\ :sub:`2`\ O and Glucose\ :footcite:p:`Baeuerle2023_M9_repo,Baeuerle2023_M9`. .. list-table:: M9 composition :name: m9_comp :align: center :widths: 54 26 :header-rows: 1 :class: no-scrollbar-table * - name - source * - Ammonia - NH4Cl * - Calcium(II) cation [Ca(2+)] - CaCl2*2H2O * - Chloride [Cl(-)] - NaCl, NH4Cl, CaCl2*2H2O * - D-Glucose - Glucose * - Dioxygen [O2] - Oxygen * - Hydrogen [H(+)] - KH2PO4, Na2HPO4 * - Magnesium(II) cation [Mg(2+)] - MgSO4*7H2O * - Phosphate [PO4(3-)] - KH2PO4, Na2HPO4 * - Potassium(I) cation [K(+)] - KH2PO4 * - Sodium(I) cation [Na(+)] - NaCl, Na2HPO4 * - Sulfate [SO4(2-)] - MgSO4*7H2O * - Water [H2O] - MgSO4*7H2O, CaCl2*2H2O .. footbibliography::
