Defined Gut Microbiota Medium (dGMM)

The defined Gut Microbiota Medium (dGMM) is composed of all compounds described in ‘Nutritional preferences of human gut bacteria reveal their metabolic idiosyncrasies’[1]. The dGMM was used under anaerobic conditions in the paper and, thus, does not contain any oxygen. However, a gas mix containing carbon dioxide, nitrogen and hydrogen was added to the anaerobic chamber. As hydrogen is already present in the definition only carbon dioxide and nitrogen were added.
